RECOMMENDATIONS

where to eat?
Jack and I come here every time we’re in town. You MUST get the stone crab (obviously! And the sauce is soooo good). Jack is obsessed with their key lime pie (and key lime pie martini). Truly, everything is yummy and it’s fab people watching.
FYI- they only take a limited number of reservations and it gets busy, so try getting there on the earlier side if you don’t want to wait long.
Iconic Cuban restaurant. Kind of a drive from Miami Beach (about 15-20 min car ride to the famous “Calle Ocho”) but worth it!
Abby loves their Ropa Vieja!!
For an authentic cafecito, head outside to their corner coffee shop.
One of Brooklyn’s best decided to open a more tropical location. Custom pizza! You pick your toppings. It’s so good!
This is our favorite breakfast/lunch option. They have acai bowls, smoothies, salads, etc. Abby is obsessed with their toasted chicken wrap. There are several locations around Miami.
Venezuelan restaurant that Jack recommends! Typical Venezuelan food- yummy arepas, tequeños, cachapas, etc.
BARS
The Living Room (inside Faena Hotel)
Great people watching and the décor in this hotel is unreal. They have live music every night. Great cocktails too (Abby recommends the Smoke & Sparks). FYI- There is a dress code! Wear heels or nice footwear (not sandals; Abby learned this the hard way).
Watr (inside the 1 Hotel)
Rooftop bar on the beach, so the views are really good. Definitely make a reservation! Fun, upbeat vibes here.
Sugar Rooftop
Sugar is located 40 floors up at the top of EAST Miami, in the heart of Brickell, great views of the city.
Rusty Pelican
Bar on Key Biscayne, right on the water. AMAZING view of Brickell/ downtown Miami from here.
activities
Biking
We like to rent bikes and bike on the boardwalk! You can rent bikes from your hotel, usually for free. It’s a nice way to cover ground on Miami Beach and explore. We like to bike to South Beach and watch the cruise ships depart.
Beach
We also love getting an umbrella/ lounge chairs through the hotel and relaxing on the beach. Don’t forget sunscreen and a good book!
Miami On The Water (miamionthewater.com)
You can rent several different size boats for however many hours you’d like. Boats come with a captain. We loooove being on a boat and definitely recommend this! You can have your captain take you to swimming spots (we like Key Biscayne) to jump in the water and swim around for a bit.
Exploring
Check out the old Art Deco architecture on Ocean Drive
Key Biscayne is a cute island about 20 minutes from Miami Beach. We like looking at the nice houses here and walking on the beach to the lighthouse.
